Barry Gray is a Broker or Agent at Compass Beverly Hills, specializing in the marketing and sale of residential architecture, historic properties and designed homes. He was previously a Senior Partner at DPP Real Estate.
He has represented both buyers and sellers of architecture and historic homes designed by early twentieth century icons Arthur and Nina Zwebell and Leland Bryant, mid-century modern masters Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Raphael Soriano, classic Southern California architects John Byers, Richard Dorman, Sumner Spaulding, Ed Fickett, Donald Wexler and Gregory Ain, and numerous contemporary architects currently working in Southern California. Barry has sold property from the Westside of Los Angeles to the Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz and Silver Lake, Pasadena, and even Palm Springs.
While his passion for residential architecture launched his career, it's his passion for service that has sustained it. Barry is certified as a Seniors and Negotiation Specialist, has managed complicated trust sales, and enjoys more than anything the opportunity to guide clients through a process that can be emotional and confusing.
Barry transitioned into real estate from the film business, where he was involved in independent film finance, distribution and marketing. While traveling extensively around the world to attend film markets and festivals, he discovered his interest in design and architecture.
He oversaw the restoration of LA Historic Cultural Landmark #1040, a Hollywood Hills residence by mid-century architect Richard Dorman, and currently lives in a 1917 Colonial Revival home with Mill’s Act designation in Wilshire Park HPOZ. He is a member of the Quad HPOZ Board that oversees Wilshire Park, Oxford Square, Country Club Park, Windsor Village.
