The vintage photo was taken in 1979 when the once residential property was a bookstore called “Mostly Books”. The building has not changed much, but the surroundings on Wilshire near Wilton certainly have. Most interestingly, the photo was taken by Annie Laskey, the 15-year old daughter (and budding photographer) of Marlene Laskey. Marlene was an urban planner, historian, architecture enthusiast, and interviewer for UCLA’s Oral History Project. Marlene died of cancer in 1989.
