Two summers ago, an evening on this stretch of Sunset meant at least two parking hunts. Dinner on one block, drinks on another, a walk around the reservoir on a third, and the sequence only worked if you started early enough to move the car twice. This summer, the same evening fits inside a half mile of sidewalk between the Sunset Triangle and the reservoir, and it happens without moving the car at all.
That compression is not an accident of taste. It is the direct result of a single mixed-use project opening in phases, a wave of relocations landing within a few blocks of each other, and a slow civic decision about the reservoir that has quietly changed what a Tuesday looks like around here.
The Half-Mile That Wasn't There In 2024
The anchor is Sunset Row, the RYDA and Abramson Architects renovation of a 1930s auto body shop turned into a 19,200-square-foot mixed-use space with expansive storefronts at 3300 Sunset. The bones are unmistakable if you look up on your way in: bow-truss ceilings and restored original details under an art deco hand. What arrived inside those bones is what matters.
Phase 1 co-tenancy now reads like a small district on its own. New Balance, Baggu, Akila, Malin + Goetz, Filson, Sunspel, Bar di Bello, and Veo Optics are open, with D.S. & Durga, the Scandinavian-Japanese lifestyle shop Mysa, and Sol Market filling out the courtyard. The retail is not the reason to walk over. The reason is that Sunset Row also folded three sit-down concepts into the same block: Loquat Coffee for the afternoon, Bar di Bello for the evening, and the first U.S. outpost of Noma Projects next door.
Bar di Bello is the piece that made the block cohere. It opened in April 2026 as a Milanese-inspired bar and restaurant at Sunset Row, from Gigi's Hollywood alum Alex Wilmot, Wexler's Deli co-owner Michael Kassar, and Nomadica founder Kristin Olszewski. It sits between Noma Projects and Loquat Coffee, inside the new Sunset Row development, complete with valet parking. A 40-seat outdoor patio designed by 22RE with landscape architect Sarita Jaccard is opening this summer, which means the aperitivo hour finally has a proper address on this side of the reservoir.
A Tuesday, In Order
For someone who already lives within walking distance, the sequence writes itself.
- Start at the Silver Lake Farmers' Market at Sunset Triangle Plaza, 1500 Griffith Park Blvd. It runs Tuesdays 1:30pm to 7pm and Saturdays 8am to 1:30pm, with the usual produce alongside the vintage and small-press stalls that give it its character.
- Walk west on Sunset. At 3510 W Sunset, Amiguita is the first stop for anyone who has not been yet. Chef Alejandro Eusebio opened the Afro-Latin, Dominican-influenced concept on March 11, 2026, with 34 seats and a family-style dinner menu in what used to be The Ruby Fruit.
- Continue west another handful of blocks to 3300 Sunset. Coffee at Loquat, a browse through Sunspel or Baggu, aperitivo at Bar di Bello.
- Cut south on Silver Lake Boulevard and finish with a loop of the reservoir at dusk.
The full sequence is roughly a mile of walking, less if you skip the market. It replaces what used to be three separate outings, and it is the first time this end of Sunset has offered that arrangement without a car in the middle of it.
What Opened, What Moved, What Came Back
The Sunset Row story is the loudest one, but it is not the only shift. A short table of the last twelve months, for anyone still working from a 2024 mental map of the neighborhood:

Two of these deserve a note past the address. Breakfast by Salt's Cure closed its West Hollywood location and reopened here. The last day of service at 7494 Santa Monica Blvd was June 24, 2026, and the entire West Hollywood team migrated to the new Silver Lake spot starting Thursday June 27, 2026. If the oatmeal griddle cakes were a regular part of your Sunday and you had given up on that being convenient, they are now a mile from the reservoir.
Cafe Stella, meanwhile, is functioning again on Sunset Junction. After suddenly closing in 2024, the Silver Lake spot is now back in action. Tacos Royale is the counter-programming to all of it. It is a Sonoran-style street stand run by a Ceviche Project alum and his cousin, set up in a parking lot off Sunset, grilling beef over mesquite charcoal with freshly made Sonoran flour tortillas. Bar di Bello it is not, and that is part of the point.
What The Reservoir Is Actually Doing
Anyone who runs the loop has watched the water levels bounce for the better part of a decade. Here is the current state, spelled out.
Refilling of Ivanhoe started in November 2024. The flow is being pumped slowly to adhere to Division of Safety of Dams regulations, a process taking about four to five months, with water going through the spillway to fill Silver Lake. The Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy notes that Ivanhoe will now remain filled to this level, allowing water to flow over the spillway into Silver Lake, and Silver Lake levels will fluctuate. The reservoirs are not drinking water storage anymore, and they are not going back. LADWP will maintain the reservoirs' water elevations within historical levels, and allow the reservoirs to revert to a more natural state.
The longer arc is the master plan. The Los Angeles City Council has adopted findings on a plan that would convert roughly 116 acres of the 127-acre Silver Lake and Ivanhoe reservoir complex into park space, knit together by a 2.5-mile landscaped promenade lining the perimeter of the reservoir. The change that most affects daily life is not the promenade. It is the road. The final plan officially does away with plans for street parking along the reservoir's Silver Lake Boulevard frontage, which is now intended to be turned into a two-way bike trail. If you have ever tried to park along that stretch on a Saturday morning, you already know what that will change.
Construction is contingent on the availability of funding, and the shortest possible construction timeline for the full master plan is estimated at five years. Which is to say, the reservoir you loop this July is more or less the reservoir you will loop next July. The Sunset Row half of the equation is moving faster than the civic half.
Why This Rewires The Weekend
The design story here is that a single project can shift the center of gravity of a neighborhood by fewer blocks than most people assume. Silver Lake's dining spine used to run east from Sunset Junction toward Echo Park. The gravity has quietly moved west, and it has moved because the same block now offers coffee, retail, dinner, and a proper cocktail without a car.
For homeowners already in the neighborhood, the practical read is straightforward. Walkability on Sunset between roughly Micheltorena and Silver Lake Boulevard is materially better than it was in 2023. The reservoir path is still the reservoir path, and the master plan will not touch it soon. The blocks between the two are where the change has landed, and it is the kind of change that tends to hold, because it is built into a permanent adaptive reuse rather than a pop-up.
